New ASDA Store Announced at Harford Place

We are delighted to announce that a new ASDA supermarket will anchor our development in Harford place.

Asda has signed an agreement for a lease with us for the main store within the scheme, which will provide a major retail facility for local residents in this area.

The transaction now brings our vision to create a vibrant new mixed use facility for this part of Norwich one step closer. We secured a resolution for outline consent for Harford Place last August and we are now in discussion with a number of key occupiers who are wishing to secure accommodation within the scheme.

Harford Place will involve a multi-million pound programme of investment to regenerate the former Bally Shoe Factory Site. The new development will include shops, restaurants, cafés, a food store, leisure accommodation, offices, residential accommodation and a hotel, together with parking. There will also be a new Community Arts Centre, which will provide exhibition space and facilities for local artists, building on the existing arts associations within the old Bally shoe factory.

A high quality public realm and a new public square will form the gateway to Harford Place and a focal point for community activity. Highway improvements are also planned together with new bus stops and improvements to the local road network.

Julian Wells, Development Director at Targetfollow, said:

"The signing by Asda is great news and will act as a real stimulus to this development. Targetfollow is actively negotiating other pre-lets and investigating means of securing development funding in what are currently challenging economic conditions. Asda represent a first class retailer to attract to the scheme and sets the foundation for what should be a magnificent addition to this part of Norwich.

Once Harford Place has been fully developed, it will act as a major new hub of activity serving the local communities of Harford, Tuckswood and Lakenham areas and will bring real vitality to this part of Norwich. Asda will play an extremely important role in providing this exciting new offer to local people."

ASDA Property Communications Manager, Tom McGarry, said:

"We are delighted to be working with Targetfollow to deliver this exciting development. The new ASDA store will create jobs and provide a retail anchor for Harford Place. ASDA has won the Grocer 33 award for the best supermarket prices for eleven years running, and we are looking forward to bringing this award winning focus on reducing the cost of living for our customers to South Norwich."
