TARGETFOLLOW TRIUMPHS AT THE MIDLANDS PROPERTY AWARDS | 25/05/07
Targetfollow has sailed above the competition to win a prestigious regional award for its redevelopment of Baskerville House in Birmingham.
The Norwich based company was named ‘best office developer’ at the high profile inaugural Midlands Property Awards ceremony at the Metropole Hotel at the NEC, attended by over 700 industry professionals. Its £30 million transformation of Baskerville House impressed judges by its sheer size, as one of the largest speculative developments of its size anywhere in the county, but also by its sensitive restoration of a Grade II listed building which combines the elegant exterior of a period property with a contemporary and environmentally friendly interior.
Highlights of Targetfollow’s innovative renovations of the 197,748 sq ft building include a chilled ceiling air conditioning system, a specialist, LG3 compliant internal and external lighting system and a completely new two floor extension of the building, designed in contemporary steel and glass with full height glazing that offers superb views over the city.
The award was accepted by Targetfollow Construction Director, Reza Salahi from the Awards Chairman, Stephen Goldstein. Reza thanked the professional and legal teams involved and praised the efforts of the onsite contractor. He also stated that he was delighted for Targetfollow to be associated with the Variety Club and thanked the panel for all their positive work.
Ian Fox, executive director of property at Targetfollow, said: “As a company we see Baskerville House as one of the most important properties in our portfolio which now exceeds £1 billion. In scale it is one of the largest developments undertaken by the company to date.
“The process of redeveloping a historical, landmark building has been challenging, but the scheme has gone from strength to strength. Since completion, it has been awarded the coveted ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating and attracted international attention from the property world at MIPIM, and now this great recognition by the Midlands property market marks another highpoint in its achievements.
“These awards were also special because they were hosted in conjunction with the Variety Cub, who were raising money towards mini buses and away days for disabled and disadvantaged children across the Midlands. The property industry has been profitable and successful over the past few years, and the awards marked an opportunity for those in the industry to give something back to the community.”
Targetfollow is a leading commercial property investment and development company specialising in major opportunities in city centres. It owns a portfolio of 52 properties across the UK and is currently developing major schemes such as a 250,000 sq ft mixed use development Duke’s Wharf in Norwich.
