A STRIKING BLUE SKYLINE CROWN FOR CENTRE POINT | 02/07/08
The West End skyline has a new after dark beacon – a striking 10 metre high lighting feature bearing the legend Centre Point.
The blue “crown” has been installed at roof level at Targetfollow Group’s iconic 32-storey office tower at Tottenham Court Road designed by Richard Seifert.
The high output, energy-efficient LED was designed by Argentinean lighting artist Juan Ferrari and set in place by lighting design specialists Hoare Lee. It runs a total of 80 metres around the building and can be seem for miles.
The computer-controlled system was switched on for the first time on Thursday (June 26) to coincide with the latest drive to promote the tower as the West End office location.
Some 100 commercial agents attended a reception to showcase the 25th floor, which is the eighteenth floor to be extensively refurbished and the only remaining one available to let.
It also marked the launch of High Point, a glossy life style promotional magazine for tenants and potential tenants, by Targetfollow Group.
Alan Howard, Targetfollow’s Portfolio Manager responsible for Centre Point, said: “The crown is designed to make a visual link with the newly refurbished and lavishly illuminated reception lobby.
He added: “The building’s commanding position will ensure that it will quickly become a directional beacon for tourists and office and shop workers making their way through the West End.”
Eleven floors, representing more than 50,000 sq ft., have been let at Centre Point in the last 12 months. Among recent deals were an international Middle East oil producer taking a 10-year lease on the 26th floor at a record £63.50 per sq ft; and an international oil and chemical corporation taking a 10-year lease on the 30th floor.
